emailI just received an email from a marketing company representing the Heritage Who’s Who (some publication promoting business leaders, or something in that vein). Anyhow, the email said:

It is my pleasure to inform you that you are being considered for inclusion into the 2009-2010 Heritage Who’s Who Business Leaders and Professionals Honors Edition section of the registry.

I am? WOW! What an honor!

Just one problem. Not sure if you can see the picture, but in the email at the top it is addressed to “Dear , ”

Hmm… don’t feel so special if they can’t even address it to me by name.

A little advice to Commentary Marketing (no, I’m not linking to you) – if you want to improve your CTR and conversion rates, try and ensure the emails you’re sending are authentic and properly addressed. Using crappy tactics like these won’t get you through our doors as a supplier. However, they will find you at the top of a very select list of ours – our spam folder.
