Rod Phillips is a guy you want to know if you love wine. The buyer for Liquor Plus on the Island, he travels the world in search of great wines at affordable prices. His stores are packed with them. You can read his columns in the Times Colonist on Tuesdays.
He recently turned me on to Bodega Cortes, a fruity Spanish red with an exceedingly smooth finish and a price tag of $10. I ran to the store and bought as many bottles as I could carry, then went back for more.
His latest tip is the Pampas Shiraz-Malbec from Argentina, another $10 bottle that Rod says tastes twice as good as that.
You can follow him on Twitter at Rod_Phillips. He has great insight and loves to share it.
