A few months ago I blogged about those odd client requests that no amount of logic can kill. The post was entitled Zombies and Aliens.
It had respectable traffic for a day or two and then quietly archived itself.
Over the past 3 days the post has exploded back to life with hundreds of hits. People are googling “zombies” – no doubt a reflection of the Halloween season and the annual Zombie Walks – and arriving at our blog.
Are these inadvertent views worth anything?
Apparently they are. The randomly generated blog posts that appear at the end of the Zombies and Aliens post have attracted respectable hits of their own. They change all the time but they aren’t hard to track. That tells me that approximately 5% of the people who visited the blog for one reason decided to read more once they there there.
A single-minded purpose on a seasonal hot button may have brought them here, but they were open to the diversion. Who knew.
It’s all trial and error for us folks in bloggerland. But you might want to have a deeper think about your blog post headlines.
Hope that explains the screamer on this one.
