Ok. Well we’re in the new place. Sort of.
We found a dead mouse waiting for us at the door when we arrived, but hey, that’s the neighbourhood.
The movers came to the old office this morning and hauled our stuff off. We are now sorting through boxes and fighting over chairs and bookshelves.
The phones don’t work. Don’t call us until Monday.
The computers work fine but no one has a station set up yet because the desks haven’t arrived.
But the windows look fantastic. Great job by Murray Kirk at Mini Max Media.
Hell of a job moving out of the Broughton St. address where we had managed to accumulate 13 years worth of filth hiding behind places we don’t ever go.
Look what we found in the fridge. I maintain it was there before I arrived in 2008. I believe, by the colouring, it was a slice of key lime pie.
So here was the new digs a week ago:
And here is the main work area today (the carpets were laid down yesterday, same time as the toilet became operational):
Cleaned up rather nicely.
We are happy with the spot and the mood has been hearty and convivial, if falling short of festive. That won’t happen until I surprise them with champagne in about an hour. (UPDATE. They got beer from Phillips brewery instead: we had no glasses for the champers.)
Here are some of the hardened Copeland workers. Note the menacing characters in the doorway looking set to change the mood. But hey, that’s the neighbourhood.
